Gift For Co-Workers

For many of us, we work in an office-related profession—that said, it requires a level of interaction with people, especially those who are our co-workers. More so, it requires a certain level of agreeableness, as means of getting along. Having a good relationship with those we work with leads not only to better productivity with work, but also create a stress-free, tension-free work space for everyone to feel good in. If you’re especially appreciative of having several co-workers in your life, then perhaps giving a gift is the way to go. Here, we offer you some gifts ideas for co-workers that are sure to make your colleague’s day just a bit brighter (as well as yours).

10 Things to Consider When Buying a Gift for Co-workers

1. Their personality

The first thing you will want to do when buying a gift for a co-worker is to remember that they are a person—a unique individual with personality and interests. If you don’t know this person very well, it can be easy to buy them office-related gifts. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it shouldn’t be the default.

2. Their job function

The CEO, the accountant, and the marketing manager are likely to have different sorts of likes and interests, as well as different on-the-job needs. Help support their daily work and long term goals, tailoring your gift specifically towards the demands of their sector.

3. Their daily routine

Do they always walk into the office with a coffee from that place down the street? Have they been at their desk since 7 AM working out the numbers in that spreadsheet? Do they leave the office headed for a camping trip every Friday evening? Try to notice their usual schedule and support it with gear or funding.

4. Their commute

If they have a long drive into the office, car entertainment is sure to be welcome. Subscriptions to audiobook services, music streaming services, and donations to radio stations are all good places to start. You might also consider something physical, like a fidget spinner, to keep them occupied in traffic.

5. Their home life

When your co-worker gets home, what is it like? Are there kids running around? A roommate who forgot to wash the dishes? Try to keep their outside-of-work circumstances in mind.

6. Their night life

When your coworker gets a night off to relax and have fun, how do they spend it? Do they go out to the movies or a bar with friends? Are they tucked onto the couch with their spouse and bottle of wine? Support their relaxation by funding some of these activities.

7. What they do on the weekend

Are they a weekend warrior, always headed off on an adventure? Are they spending their Saturdays at their kids’ soccer games? Either way, they might need a camping chair. Try to find out what your coworker’s free days look like, and buy them something that fits in with them.

8. The Office culture

In most situations where you are buying a gift for a coworker, it is an all-office affair. You might have an office that is big on gag gifts, or you might have coworkers determined to buy the nicest things they can. Try to keep in mind what other people are likely to buy as you shop for your gift.

9. Their desk habits

Are they always hanging new photos on the wall of their cube? Do they have headphones on most of the time, listening to music? See if you can find a way to support their desktop habits and work productivity.

10. Their favorite snacks

When all else fails, everybody likes food. Most people keep a stash of snacks at the office, so keep an eye out for what it is they are munching on. Whatever they seem to love—be it chocolate, salty chips, or healthy veggies and dip—stock up their supply as a gesture of care.

Gifts Ideas for Co-Workers: Get Them Something Different This Year!

Whether you like it or not (and hopefully you do), you spend a lot of time around your co-workers. Having a positive relationship with them makes the workday go by much quicker. Not only are you happier, but you are likely more productive. A great way to ensure a positive working relationship is to keep your co-workers in mind come the holidays or their birthday.

This year, why not go the extra mile and get a unique gift for a co-worker? This is an easy way to show that you care about them and that you actually view them as friends, and not simply people that you work with. If you have no idea what to get your co-workers, that is okay. It can be hard to know what to get someone, or a group of people, if you don’t know a lot about them. Even if you are super close with your co-workers, you still may be coming up blank when it comes to co-worker gift ideas.

Find the Right Gift for Every Type of Personality

We are here to solve that problem. We have compiled this list of gifts for colleagues, all of which are interesting and appropriate for getting a co-worker. Even with just the most basic knowledge of your co-workers, you can find a perfect gift that will suit their personality. Our ideas span a wide range of interests, allowing you to pick something perfect for everyone in your office.

Everyone can admit that work can feel monotonous at times, and heading into the office day in and day out can become quite the challenge. However, by working on forging positive relationships with your co-workers, your attitude about work will change dramatically! If you haven’t taken the time to get to know them, now is the time to start. Come the holidays, you can show your appreciation by finding something appropriate among our gifts for employees.

Ways to Make the Gift Extra Special

1. Keep it neat.

General as this statement sounds, it essentially refers to the fact of keeping it tidy and presentable. After all, throwing everything together into a sloppy mess isn’t very considerate, perhaps even detracting from the loveliness of the gift. That said, take the time to put effort into wrapping it up in a nice gift box, along with pleasant wrapping paper. Seal the deal with a bow (if you fancy), and you’re all set!

2. Offer a nice card.

Besides the gift itself, what better way to make it even more special than by writing something heartfelt? Sometimes, it’s not the physical item which makes one’s day, but rather the message that comes along with it. Even better, making it completely homemade (card and message) will be sure to melt the person’s heart. While the message doesn’t necessarily have to be incredibly sappy or mushy, the message should nevertheless be meaningful and personalized to the recipient you’re giving it to.

3. Give the gift in-person.

Especially since you work in such close proximity to each other, seeing each other on a daily basis is normal procedure. That said, it shouldn’t be a problem to find the right time and opportunity, e.g. between coffee breaks, during lunch, after work, to go up to the recipient and give them the gift. Being present (pun-intended) offers a more-personal experience to show that you really care about them, and they’ll be sure to really appreciate your gesture.

4. Make sure it’s relevant.

Too many times have you experienced receiving gifts that have absolutely no use nor interest to you—even though the person had spent the money to give it to you, it wasn’t personalized so it wasn’t worth any value to you. Don’t make that same mistake when it comes to giving a gift to your co-worker: in fact, take the time to scour their interests and needs, and buy accordingly to that.

5. Make sure it’s appropriate.

Similar to the previous point, make sure that it’s suitable for the person. Whether the gift is something that can be used in the office or at the co-worker’s home, make an effort to ensure that it’ll not be distracting to the individual, along with potentially the other co-workers in the office. By doing so, you can be set on giving a great experience to a great individual.

Your Budget Is No Issue for Us!

Who doesn’t like feeling special on their birthday? There is nothing worse than forgetting about someone at the office. Make sure you know when everyone’s birthday is, and make them feel special by getting them a gift for a co-worker. This simple gesture says a lot and will be greatly appreciated.

If someone’s birthday is coming up, or if the office Christmas party is right around the corner, take a look at our gift ideas and see what you find. No matter what your budget is, you can find inexpensive gifts for co-workers that all of your co-workers are sure to love.
