Whether it is coming from the radio, your phone, computer, or any other electronic device that plays audio/music, he will recognize it and dance along! You will know that he detects the music when his eyes light up. After they light up he will immediately start dancing and shaking. Groot does require 3 1.5v alkaline batteries which are not included with him; they need to be purchased separately so keep that in mind. It only includes demo batteries. One thing to note about the external music option is that he will not ‘automatically’ start dancing if the music is being played. You need to hold down the ‘leaf’ button on his right leg, play the music and the fun will begin. Lastly if you thought that he only dances, you are wrong as he does say his signature phrase, “I AM GROOT!”, when the ‘leaf’ button is pushed!
