This recording of “Spirited Away” directed by Hayao Miyazaki and distributed by Disney is an absolute marvel when it comes to artwork, acting, animation, storyline and music. The movie first came out in cinemas and was a huge success.
It was even awarded an Oscar in 2002 after having a category invented especially for it (Best Animated Feature Film). It then came out on DVD but this did not do the cinema version justice. Finally, Disney has distributed a Blu Ray version which comes with a complimentary DVD. The Blu Ray really goes a long way to recreating the beauty and masterful work that went into the original movie.

The story is about a young Japanese girl who is on a trip with her parents. They become lost and come across a derelict amusement park where they try to seek shelter. The girl’s parents are turned into pigs and the girl finds herself stuck in the amusement park filled with witches, monsters, dragons and spirits. Her tasks are to find a way to change her parents back into human form and find a way for the whole family to leave the park and find their way home.

This definitely is a family viewing movie, however, there are scenes or concepts set in the story that might upset young children, so if the kids are watching this at a sleepover then the movie should be adult guided
This is really a truly unforgettable story and one that is full of creativity and imagination.
